ECAMPS Tikkun Leil Shavuot

Thursday May 28 @ 11:00 am - 11:00 pm

Timings are listed below for an exceptional Tikkun Leyl Shavuot programme. Join us as  we collaborate with a number of other progressive and Masorti Synagogues from across the UK!

The programme will bring you a range of activities for the whole family; from Tots Shavuot at 4.45pm, a choice of study session at 7pm followed by a Family service at 8pm and a keynote session from Dr Lily Khan on 'The 70 languages of the Jews'. We complete the evening with a further choice of session from 10pm. Sessions will be led by Rabbis and leaders across the progressive movements including our own Rabbi Lisa.

Programme

11am - Let’s Bake Cheesecake! Led by Rabbi Monique Mayer from Bristol & West Progressive Jewish Congregation

In the tradition of preparing and eating dairy products on Shavuot, here’s an opportunity to make a delicious treat for the Festival. We’ll bake together in real time and—all being well—will produce a really yummy dessert to eat in celebration!  Please see below for recipe details.

Cheesecake Recipe
Here is a cheesecake recipe link by Rabbi Monique Mayer for the Gluten-free chocolate-chip cheesecake https://www.myjewishlearning.com/the-nosher/chocolate-chip-cheesecake-for-passover/
You can find other cheesecake recipes by Monique on our website at http://eastlondonandessexliberalsynagogue.org/shavuot2020-cheesecake/

Monique has given us a few pointers to note before the event-

  • Please prepare the almond-coconut mixture ahead of time so we’re not drowning each other out with sounds of the food processors!
  • You are welcome to make another recipe if you wish, it’s just about the fun of trying to do it together!

While our cakes baking are away in the oven, we will have a special Shavuot quiz. To participate in the quiz you will need to download the Kahoot app on your mobile phone or tablet (doesn’t work on a desktop).
