Meet at St.Paul's Underground Station (Outside Exit 1, Cheapside) . Duration of walk 2 hours. Suitable for wheelchair users.
Follow the trail of a small area within the City of London where Jews brought to England by William I after 1066, were compelled to live. Until their expulsion in 1290 under the reign of Edward I, they lived under strict control carrying out jobs forbidden to Christians.
Within a few streets, the Jews established a community of about 6,000 with ritual bath houses, synagogues, a slaughterhouse and a burial ground.
