Back in September, with the help of our Social and Community Group, we had the pleasure of hearing about one of the charities we are supporting through our High Holy Days Appeal this year. If you missed this enlightening talk it can be found by clicking here!

We were delighted to welcome Noa Yammer and her team. Hand-in-Hand are engaged in vital educational projects, bringing together Jewish and Arab children in Israel, through a growing network of bilingual, integrated and multicultural schools. 7 schools across Israel are now catering for over 2000 students with the mission of preparing them to live in equality and respect.

The presentation included an introduction by Sue Jackson, the Synagogue Vice-Chair, who has visited a Hand-in-Hand school through her educational work in Israel and contributions from two young graduates, one Jewish and one Arab, speaking from their homes in Israel and providing their personal perspectives on the experience of being educated together.

This event offered a unique opportunity to find out about some critical and pioneering work being undertaken in Israel against the backcloth of mounting community tensions and conflicts.
