The Jewish Helpline was set up over 27 years ago after a young woman living in Hendon, ended her own life. People felt that she could have been helped had there been somewhere for her to turn. Out of this tragedy, THE JEWISH HELPLINE (formerly Miyad) was born. We are totally independent and not affiliated to any group or denomination.

We offer support and a listening ear to all callers, and especially so in today's world, where many elderly and vulnerable people are alone with no other support system.

This is especially relevant in post Covid times, when the community at large has unfortunately seen a growing number of suicides - including a tragic case last week.

We would like to ask your help in bringing knowledge of our service to the members of your community.
