Our hearts go out to the Muslim community of Christchurch in New Zealand following the terrorist hate crime perpetrated against worshippers during Friday prayers today. Our condolences and sympathy are with the families of those who were murdered, and we offer prayers for healing to the injured. As members of the Jewish community, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our Muslim brothers and sisters, condemning all acts of hatred and violence. Created in the image of God, may we continue to work together to create peace, tolerance and understanding amongst all peoples of this earth.
There will be a vigil at Ilford Town Hall this evening, Friday night, at 7pm. Please attend if you are able, to show our solidarity with the community of Christchurch, to express our revulsion at this act of terror, and to speak out in the name of peace, tolerance and understanding.
