SWESRS invited seniors during the week of Sukkot to enjoy afternoon tea as the first part of their Mitzvah Day project. Despite the miserable weather over 30 members of our community attended the Sukkot Cream Tea which was organised by our Care Team led by Roz Bedford. The team prepared a variety of sandwiches, cakes and scones for those synagogue members over the age of 80 and their family members.
Entertainment was provided by our member Hannah Turner with her singers from Inclusive Communities, a group of young adults with learning disabilities who are based in Manford Way, Hainault. The talented young people were invited into the prayer hall and succah by Rabbi Lisa before singing a variety of popular songs to an appreciative audience. Afterwards they joined the party and enjoyed their special tea.
A lovely afternoon was had by all and a big thank you has to go to all our lovely volunteers who ensured that everyone was made to feel welcome and were all well looked after. There were plenty of sandwiches, cakes and of course fruit scones with cream and jam to go around!
